I finally got to see the living colour exhibition yesterday in Brisbane. I cannot believe how beautiful they all look in the display.
For those that don’t know, after the success of her curated exhibition – Beneath the Southern Sky, Brenda Gael Smith called for entries, this time with the theme Living Colour. She received 177 entries from around the world and had to choose 32!
Luckily for me, I’m one of the lucky ones! My Chameleon quilt titled “Now you see me” was selected along with three other full time members of our Reddy Arts Textile Group, and one distance member of our group also got selected, which was a great coincidence as Brenda did not know us or that we were from the group! It was as much of a surprise to her that we all knew each other as it was for us all to be selected!
The exhibition is slowly weaving it way around Australia then it will be off overseas to New Zealand and America. If it comes your way take the opportunity to visit, or have a look at the full quilts on the Living Colour website!
I love to get up close and personal with quilts, I find that when you take a macro photo the details are much easier to focus on. Here are my closeup sneak peaks for the wonderful quilts.
