The inspiring Reddy Arts Textile Group, to which I am privileged to belong are running a fabric creation challenge,
We have decided to start with a blank fabric, this can be commercial print, dyed, no colour etc. The size we are creating is A5.
Our members put 3 techniques into a lucky dip bag and each month when we meet, we will be pull out a technique and apply it to the fabric.
Of course we were hopeful that something like painting, dying, etc would come out first…but alas no! BEADING was the first technique that was drawn out.
Here are the results of our first round: they are perhaps a little uninspiring at present, but you will have to stay tuned each month to see how we conquer each drawn out technique challenge!
- Di Flint has created an all over diamond pattern inspired by a photo in a book
- Donna chose a bright background and added beads sporadically to highlight some pink areas.
- Kate’s piece is best viewed with your head turned. She has added beads in a fire like pattern.
- Sue has done a celestial broder of shiny star like beads
- Brenda cheated and dangled beads from the top of the piece, hoping that she can swing them out of the way later if needed.
- Jill added some green seed beads to highlight some shading in her chosen fabric
- Jan added beads, and just a little stitch in a pattern reminiscent of wine glasses.
- Alex went unabashedly straight for the centre!
NEXT MONTH’S TECHNIQUE: CONFETTI…
looking good! I think I have the second round photos! will try to get around to getting them off the camera and into a post too!
